Acute Nursing ServicesSurgicalCaroline Murphy, Nurse Manager and Wards Children’sSr C McAnearney This ward is comprised of 24 beds. The ward accepts patients with both paediatric, medical and surgical conditions. The ward also has a 2-bedded Paediatric Ambulatory Ward. This specialised unit provides appropriate medical and nursing care for children who are referred for rapid assessment and treatment on an outpatient basis. Day Procedure UnitSr P McGuigan This is a 10-bedded unit offering patients day procedure surgery for a wide range of surgical procedures and minor operations. Accident and EmergencySr N Sheridan This department provides 24-hour care and treatment to patients with accidents and emergencies. TheatresSr M Delaney This department is responsible for the immediate pre operative, intra operative and post operative care of patients who require surgery. Patients are transferred to the theatre department to have their surgery, they are recovered and monitored in recovery and transferred back to their ward when their condition is satisfactory. Male Surgical/High Dependency UnitSr I Cunningham This ward is comprised of 17 male beds and 5 high dependency beds. This ward provides nursing care pre operatively and post operatively to patients who require both planned and emergency surgery. The High Dependency Unit offers a specialised area to monitor and evaluate the progress of acutely ill surgical patients. Female Surgical/GynaeSr H Fee This ward is comprised of 24 female surgical beds and 9 gynae beds. The ward is also responsible for the pre-assessment clinic and jointly responsible for the discharge lounge alongside Male Surgical Ward. |
