Cardiac RehabSr Corrigan Provides specialist care and advice to post coronary patients and their families, by way of a home visiting service, thus ensuring a valuable link between secondary and primary care. The role also involves managing and co-ordinating a multidisciplinary programme for the Newry and Mourne Trust and working closely with the regional centres. Resuscitation Training OfficerMiss H Cullen The Resuscitation Officer is responsible for all resuscitation training in the hospitals and facilities attached to the Trust. This includes the supervision and training of staff in both basic and advanced life support. The Resuscitation Officer together with the Resuscitation Committee is responsible for the supervision, review and audit of resuscitation procedures within the Trust. In addition she provides specialist advice on all aspects of training and education and this includes extension to outside groups such as GP Practices, schools, etc. She also provides a training programme for parents dealing with the emergency situation among children. Infection ControlMarie Ward/Maggie Markey The Infection Control Nurse has a full time responsibility for infection control with the Trust, including primary and secondary care. The Infection control nurse maintains a clinical input within wards, departments and the community sector. She is accessible for advice, education and support concerning the prevention and control of infection as related to patients, all staff or equipment. Women’s HealthSr C Connolly Clinics
Night Co-OrdinatorsSr C Sands Sr C Thompson EpilepsySr M McConnell Acts as lead professional nurse in managing all aspects of the neurology/epilepsy service. Provides specialist knowledge relevant to support, care and treatment of patients/carers relating to epilepsy. Pain NurseSr M Connelly The role of the pain nurse is to act as the lead nurse in establishing and managing this new service. Part of this role is to educate and train health professionals in this area. The pain team is composed of many health professional, this allow the Patient to be assessed holistically in order to have the appropriate programme of care developed. StrokeTo be appointed Stoma/Coloproctology nurse specialistStoma/Coloproctology nurse specialists are trained nurses with specialist skills and knowledge which enables them to teach patients, carers, relatives and other health care professional to care and manage patients with stomas. This service is a SHSSB wide service and spans both primary and secondary care. Peritoneal Dialysis NurseTo be appointed ColorectalMiss B Trainor BreastConsultant led clinic – Mr Gilpin The role of the Breast Care Specialist is to give support and advice to patients and their family at all stages of their disease. This service extends into the community and is available to all residents of the Southern Health and Social Services Board. The role can be divided broadly into two component parts. Firstly, the continuous psychological support and counselling for patients and their family. Secondly, the post operative management of patients who have undergone breast surgery. This includes the management of complications, e.g. lymphodema and seromas, prosthesis fitting and altered body image. Bed ManagerEnsures effective and efficient use of all acute beds, by co-ordinating emergency and elective admissions, in accordance with the Trust’s Bed Management Policies and Protocols. The priority will be to balance the admission of both emergency and waiting list patients. |
