SOCIAL SERVICES TO OLDER PEOPLESocial Services to older people is committed to ensuring that our clients share in a comprehensive assessment of their individual needs and are enabled to have access to a range of quality assured services. We are also committed to the provision and development of a range of quality assured caring services, delivered by skilled staff in a manner which is responsive and accessible at all times. The programme of care will strive to maintain the independence of older people in the community, as far as is consistent with their assessed needs and through the provision of a balanced range of services designed to meet the needs of older people and their carers. Nursing and Residential CareWithin Newry and Mourne there are two statutory residential homes, which provide direct residential and nursing care: 1) Cloughreagh House (31 beds) The homes are highly regarded within their local communities and indeed further a field. This is recognition of the dedication of the residential staff and their commitment to the provision of good quality care. Day CareThe reduction in institutional care places should go hand in hand with an increase in quality and quantity of community care services. Within Newry and Mourne, there is a range of statutory providers servicing the older person’s programme of care, in the field of day care:
