MLSO Cardiology
Cardiological Technician/Cardiac Physiologist/Cardiac Clinical Scientific Officer
In the field of cardiology, Medical Technical Officers (MTOs) are known as cardiological technicians/physiologists or Cardiac Clinical Scientific Officer (CCSOs), they carry out investigations into the functioning of the heart and equipment fitted to help the heart, such as pacemakers.
They are responsible for the recording and analysis of different physiological data from electrocardiograms (ECGs) tested on resting and ambulant (walking) patients. They would then analyse the readings and report on them to the doctor responsible for the treatment to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of known or suspected cardiac disease. They also help with exercise stress testing and may decide whether it is safe to continue with a test.
