26 June 2008Awards for ToothbrushingThe Southern Health and Social Care Trust has awarded Primary School children for their toothbrushing skills. The CREST Schools Toothbrushing Programme, organised by the Community Dental Service aims to promote and improve oral hygiene amongst children. The programme encourages children to brush their teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, restrict sugary food and drinks to mealtimes and visit the dentist regularly. Nine schools participated in the programme this year. Those children whose toothbrushing skills had most improved were awarded with certificates and medals whilst the winning class in each school received a cup. The overall winning schools were presented with a Crest Shield. The 2008 winners of the Crest Programme were: Mount Saint Catherine’s Primary School, Armagh in the Armagh and Dungannon area; Hart Memorial Primary School, Portadown in Craigavon and Banbridge; and Saint Patrick’s Primary School Cullyhanna in Newry and Mourne. |
