Parents Support Group
A Joint Springwell and Young Persons Project Initiative
The Young Persons Project and the Springwell Centre have worked in partnership in co-ordinating the Parent Support Group since March 1997. Over 200 parents have availed of this service.
Do you ever think...!!!
- Where did I go wrong?
- Why is she acting like this?
- who can I talk to?
- I can't understand him.
- What do they want from me?
- Where do I draw the line?
- I felt like running away!
WHAT WE OFFER!
We create a safe environment where parents can examine their own parenting methods - both the negative and positive aspects. We provide information on a range of topics and issues to help parents to develop an insight and understanding into managing some of the problems their adolescents present, thus enhancing their parenting skills and knowledge, which may enable them to become more confident in dealing with difficult situations.
WHY COME TO A PARENT'S GROUP?
- It gives you a chance to talk about your experiences and some of the problems you may be having with your young person.
- It will give you information on a range of topics and issues to help you deal with your situation.
- It will help you to better understand your young person's behaviour and learn new ways of coping.

- Encouraging more communication for parents in promoting better relationships with young people
- Parents to become more aware of their strengths as parents, thus empowering them to deal with difficult situations
