What is the Trauma Counselling Service?
This service has been funded by the Craigavon and Banbridge Trust as a response to the bloomfield report "We shall remember them" and the social services Inspectorate report "Living with the trauma of the troubles",
The Trauma Counselling service provides support and counselling to people affected by the troubles.
This service is available to assist relatives and victims deal with the impact of exposure to traumatic stress, which can result in emotional difficulties including depression, anxiety, relationship and anger problems.
Who can use this Service?
The service aims to offer a confidential counselling service to -
q Victims or relatives who have been bereaved or injured as a result of the troubles.
q Victims or relatives where a family member has been subjected to a paramilitary punishment attack,
q Or held hostage
q Or has been intimidated
q Or has been in prison.
q People who have witnessed violent incidents or have been forced to leave their homes can also access this service.

q Individuals can contact the service directly.
Sharon Stones who has been appointed as a Trauma Counsellor is a Registered General Nurse and a qualified and experienced counsellor with extensive experience working with people who have suffered emotional and psychological distress.
She is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the Irish Association for Counselling and Therapy.
She will work in co-operation with statutory, community and voluntary organisations, and is available to speak to groups about her role
This service offers individual counselling in a confidential supportive environment.
