Child & Family ClinicWho are we?The Child & Family Clinic provides a community mental health service to children and adolescents aged 0-17 years who live in the three Trust areas of the Southern Health & Social Services Board Area, Armagh and Dungannon , Newry & Mourne and Craigavon & Banbridge. The Child & Family Teams comprise child & adolescent psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, nurses and social work specialists. What do we do?We offer a range of therapeutic services locally within a community setting including q Assessment q Individual Counselling / Therapy q Family Therapy q Group Therapies q Medication Children and adolescents are usually seen at least initially, with their parent/carers. We do not provide a service for children with a severe learning disability; this can be accessed through your local Learning Disability Team. Types of Referralq Behavioural and Emotional Difficulties q Parenting/Family Relationship Difficulties q Fears and Phobias q Trauma and Loss issues q Eating Disorders q Depressive Disorders q Attention and Activity Disorders q Toileting Problems q Psychotic Disorders q Autistic Disorders How can a referral be made?Referrals should be made by letter from one of the following professionals q General Practitioner / Family Doctor q Social Worker q Health Visitor q Educational Psychologist q Paediatrician Hospital doctor/nurse In all cases there will be liaison with the referring agent as well as the General Practitioner. - Self referrals cannot be made. How to comment / complain?Our CommitmentWe aim to provide a high quality service to all our patients and families. In most instances we succeed, but sometimes things go wrong. If you are in any way unhappy with the service you have received from us, we would like to hear from you immediately Who do I complain to?Someone close to the cause of your complaint such as the doctor, nurse, social worker or Therapist. They will try to sort out your problem on the spot. This is referred to as local resolution. If you prefer to complain to someone who is not involved in your care, you can complain to the Complaints Officer.
