Three Biomedical Scientists from the Southern Health and Social Care Trust have received Diplomas of Expert Practice.
Caroline Murphy, Pauline Henry and Rachel McCracken, received the awards from the Institute of Biomedical Science for their speciality of Non-gynaecological Cytology.
The three Biomedical Scientists work in the Trust’s Cellular Pathology Laboratory which is responsible for screening samples like urine, fluids and respiratory specimens for the diagnosis of disease.
Consultant Pathologist Dr Rajeev Shah who was medical supervisor for the Diploma says: “Since it was launched 10 years ago, only 25 biomedical scientists across the UK have passed this Diploma, so we are delighted to have three members of our team qualified to such an exclusive standard.
“Those who obtain the Diploma of Expert Practice demonstrate that they have exceptional professional skills, competency and knowledge so we are proud to contribute a diagnostic service of the highest calibre which delivers a safe, high quality care to Southern Trust patients.”
