Council backs use of Minor Injuries Unit as part of health campaign
29/11/2013
Armagh District Council recently gave their backing, to efforts by the Southern Health and Social Trust to raise awareness of Minor Injuries Units as part of Minor Injuries Unit Week.
Minor Injuries Unit Week (2nd – 6th December), is part of The Southern Trust ‘Choose Well’ campaign which aims to raise awareness of the range of health services available to treat everything from a common cold to a major emergency.
This Northern Ireland–wide public information initiative aims to help the public choose the right service that best meets their healthcare needs - ensuring everyone chooses the right service for their symptoms to get the most appropriate and best treatment.
A range of posters and leaflets are being distributed across Armagh District Council facilities providing further information to residents and visitors.
Deputy Lord Mayor of Armagh, Councillor Gerard Mark Baxter Paul White, comments: “This vitally important campaign is one which Council is delighted to back to help ensure everyone is aware not only of the services available to them in their local Minor Injury Unit but also the full range of health services available locally. Leaflets are available to pick up in Council facilities across the council area– check them out to become more aware of which services you should use and when.”
Roberta Brownlee, Chair of the Southern Health and Social Care Trust said: “We are working in partnership with Armagh District Council to raise awareness of the excellent service provided by Minor Injury Units. Thousands of leaflets and posters are being distributed as part of the Choose Well campaign to public facilities and we hope that people will take time to read the information and take actions that will help to improve local healthcare services for everyone.”
