Car Parking at South Tyrone Hospital
03/04/2012
The Southern Health and Social Care Trust is reminding the public that the car park at South Tyrone Hospital is for patients, visitors and staff only. The call comes following reports that the car park is increasingly being used by people who are not using the hospital.Trust Chief Executive, Mairead McAlinden says: “South Tyrone is a busy hospital with people attending for day procedures, outpatient appointments and to visit inpatients. However, there should be sufficient parking on the site to accommodate all the staff, patients and visitors who use the hospital each day.
“Although we have not received any recent complaints from patients, following an expansion of car parking, we have been approached by Lord Morrow and will investigate his concerns.
“We want to ensure that those using the hospital, particularly the many older people or those with mobility problems who use our services are able to find a parking space nearby.”
Mairead continues: “We are undertaking a survey to determine the use of the car park and on the basis of this will decide what measures we need to take to ensure that patients, visitors and staff have better access to parking.”
The Trust is also reminding people that only cars displaying ‘blue badges’ are permitted to park in designated spaces and to park within white lines to ensure that all spaces can be used.
