30 August 2007Dympna scoops top oral health awardOral Health Promoter Dympna McLoughlin, who works at John Mitchel Place in Newry, has been recognised as the UK’s best Oral Health Promoter at the National Dental Awards. At a prestigious awards ceremony in the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, Dympna was named as the best in the UK in the inaugural category. Awards’ host Paul Ross said, “Dympna has been selected from a highly commended shortlist of 12 people as she has shown clear evidence of a commitment to oral health promotion and involvement in a variety of campaigns to promote oral health issues.” Clinical Director of the Community Dental Service Michele Oliver says that Dympna is a most deserving winner. “Dympna works in a dynamic and enthusiastic oral health promotion team who have scored numerous notable successes at local and national level with their oral health promotion programmes. My colleagues and I are delighted for Dympna. “She received glowing tributes from other health professionals including Pauline Stanley, former Chief Executive of Armagh and Dungannon Health and Social Services Trust, and Heather Clarke, Consultant in Dental Public Health, and Lyn Donnelly, Southern Investing for Health Manager, at the Southern Health and Social Services Trust.” Dympna adds, “I would like to pay tribute to my colleagues in the Community Dental Service and in other health professions across the Southern Health and Social Care Trust with whom I work in partnership and who have contributed to this award.” |
