24 April 2007Philip White employees are driving out smokingNew smoke-free legislation comes into effect 30 April and will mean that all workplaces, public places and work vehicles in Northern Ireland will be smoke-free. In support of this Phillip White Tyres and the Southern Health and Social Care Trust are holding a free drop in session in the waiting room at Philip White’s Garage, Loughgall Road, Armagh, on 30 April from 12 noon to 2pm. Cathy Murray, Health Promotion Facilitator/Smoking Cessation Specialist at the Trust, says, “The new law will help protect against the health risks of second-hand smoke. Next Monday, we will be providing professional support and advice to people who may be thinking of driving out the habit for themselves. “I will also offer carbon monoxide testing and a range of resources will be available, including no smoking signs and health information resources.” In addition further intensive support for those who want to stop smoking is available at the Trust’s weekly clinics.
