29 May 2008Facts and Fun at Peatlands ParkParents, carers and toddlers from Armagh and Dungannon have been treated to a day of facts and fun at Peatlands Park, Dungannon. The event was aimed at parents and carers of children aged 0-4 and provided a wide variety of information on the range of services provided by the statutory, community and voluntary sectors for children aged 0-4. The event also included fun activities such as storytelling sessions, physical activities, creative play involving art and music, parachute games, pond dipping, exploring the Woodland school and a picnic snack. Ciarán Eastwood, Head of Early Years and Parenting Services, Southern Trust who commended all those who contributed to and participated in this very successful event said: “The facts and fun day was a great success, with a large number of parents, carers and children attending. The wide range of information available and the activities provided were reflective of the longstanding partnership between the Trust and the community and voluntary sector in delivering early years services.” Childminder, Grainne Scullion said: “The Facts and Fun event offered much more than we ever imagined. It was clear from entering the Park that the event was very well organised. It provided a good wholesome day’s fun and brought children’s play back to basics. There were a huge amount of activities for all children and the food was excellent. I was very impressed with the event and will definitely be looking forward to next year’s”. Another Childminder, Rosaleen Donaghy added: “It was a fantastic morning of events, fun activities for all to take part in. We participated in some of the sessions and then simply strolled around the park and explored the great outdoors. There was a great buzz and atmosphere experienced throughout the morning.” The Facts ‘n’ Fun day was organised by the Southern Health and Social Care Trust through its Armagh and Dungannon Locality Early Years Forum in partnership with the Southern Childcare Partnership. |
