18 February 2008A ‘Big Deal’ Made of Craigavon KidsYoung people from the Zero-8-Teen project in Craigavon have produced and premiered their own DVD at an Oscar style ceremony. Based at Moylinn House, Zero-8-Teen is part funded by the Southern Health and Social Care Trust. The young people who attend Zero-8-Teen’s after schools club, were one of the first groups across Northern Ireland to receive funding from The Big Deal small grants programme to produce the DVD. Janis Geary from Zero-8-Teen said: “Zero-8-Teen has a Children’s Council which allows the young people themselves to influence what kind of activities they would like us to provide. The Children’s Council sought out ideas from all the children before making a decision to apply for funding to produce the DVD. “The DVD brought a great amount of excitement and activity to the centre. The children thoroughly enjoyed the hands on experience using recording equipment and seeing their production taking shape. The premiere was a magical experience for everyone involved.” The DVD captures the ability and talents of the children in a host of activities including, singing, dancing and news reporting. |
