10 April 2008Young People as Positive InfluencersYoung people from schools across the Southern Health and Social Care Trust area have joined forces to have their say in the future planning of their health and wellbeing. Funding by the Southern Health and Social Service Board continues to enable the very successful partnership between the Southern Health and Social Care Trust and the Southern Education and Library Board to organise the Youth Health and Wellbeing Forum. The theme of the most recent event was Young People as Positive Influencers. Maureen McSorley, Youth Health Promotion Officer for the Southern Health and Social Care Trust who organised the event says: “The Forum which meets twice a year aims to enable young people to have a more direct say in services which affect them. The topic of the latest event was Young People as Positive Influencers. 210 young people, from 16 schools across the Southern area attended the events. As well as giving us much to consider, we are delighted that the young people involved seem to be getting so much out of the Youth Health and Wellbeing Forum.” This was the fifth quarterly meeting of the Forum. For further information about the Forum contact Maureen McSorley and Gabrielle O’ Neill Health Promotion Officers, Southern Area Health Promotion Department on (028) 3741 2424. |
